2. How is volumetric weight calculated?
Volumetric (dimensional) weight is calculated using the following formulas:
Air Cargo: (Length × Width × Height in cm) ÷ 5000
Surface/Train Cargo: (Length × Width × Height in cm) ÷ 4000
👉 The chargeable weight is whichever is higher between actual weight and volumetric weight.
3. Is an E-Way Bill mandatory?
Yes ✅. As per GST regulations:
For all commercial shipments above ₹50,000, a valid E-Way Bill is mandatory.
For B2B shipments, the consignor must provide a valid E-Way Bill.

4. What is PORTADOR’s liability in case of damage or loss?
Yes, PORTADOR provides liability coverage under the following:
Default maximum liability is ₹500 per docket unless higher value is declared and additional premium is paid.
Liability is limited to the declared value or invoice value, whichever is lower.
For sensitive or high-value shipments, we recommend opting for Carrier Risk / FOV coverage.
5. What’s the difference between Own Risk and Carrier Risk?
Own Risk (Default) – Yes, this is the lower-cost option, but the shipper bears responsibility for any damage or loss. No compensation is provided.
Carrier Risk – Yes, this provides peace of mind, as PORTADOR covers transit risk up to declared value limits. Premium applies (5% of invoice value).
6. What items are not accepted?
No ❌, PORTADOR does not accept:
Liquids, flammable or hazardous goods
High-value items (currency, jewelry, precious metals)
Standalone batteries, power banks, or fuel cells
Passports, licenses, and other legal documents
Narcotics, prohibited drugs, pornography
Firearms, ammunition, explosives
Live animals or plants
